That’s the secret to the impeccable skin of the stars! What is microdermabrasion for the face?
Have you ever wondered what is the secret of stars whose complexion even on close-ups looks almost impeccable? The treatment that can give us this effect is microdermabrasion. What exactly is this kind of cleansing? Who should decide on it?
What is Microdermabrasion for the Face?
Beautiful skin is pure skin – and therefore regularly exfoliated. Why is it so important to get rid of dead epidermis? Thanks to it, our skin not only regenerates, but also better accepts the nutrients from all the products we apply to it. Although there are hundreds of exfoliating cosmetics in drugstores, sometimes we need something more effective. Then it is worth considering microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion, or in other words micropeeling, is a procedure involving very thorough, mechanical exfoliation of the epidermis. It is performed using a special head, which at the same time abrade and suck in old tissue. For abrasion, corundum microcrystals, diamond particles (natural/artificial) or oxygen particles are used. It all depends on what kind of microdermabrasion we choose. In each case it is painless. What kind of microdermabrasion?
Diamond, curd, oxygen microdermabrasion – what’s the difference?
Each method is designed for a different skin type. Definitely the most popular is diamond microdermabrasion. The treatment is gentle, dust-free and does not affect the natural hydrolipidic layer of skin. It is recommended for people with thin, sensitive and allergic skin.
Corundum microdermabrasion uses cosmetic corundum powder. It rubs off much harder than diamond particles and is therefore more effective in removing dilated pores, stretch marks, and even scars or cellulite.
Oxygen microdermabrasion, or in other words oxybrasion, is the last type of this procedure. In its case, the head is not applied directly to the skin, and the exfoliation process takes place using a stream of physiological saline, which supplies the skin with oxygen. Although the treatment is non-invasive, it will work well even in removing acne scars. We feel it as a gentle breath of cool air.
In the case of the face these treatments last about 30 minutes. Every other part of the body prolongs the time of performing them.
Microdermabrasion – what are the effects?
The effects of microdermabrasion cannot be mentioned in one sentence or even a paragraph. No wonder that it is almost a cult treatment. It works well with both youthful, typically acne-prone and mature ceriums.
People with problems with dirt and eczema can count on deep cleansing and narrowing of pores, removal of blackheads, reduction of acne scars and reduction of oily T-zone.
Those who are struggling with the signs of skin aging will enjoy rejuvenating effects such as stimulating circulation, increasing collagen production, smoothing out wrinkles around the eyes, lips and neck and generally refreshing and brightening the skin.
What is more, microdermabrasion can be applied to the whole body. It is recommended for people fighting against sun damage, stretch marks, cellulite, scars or afflicted keratosis.
How often do you do microdermabrasion?
Of course, we can expect the best results only after a few treatments. Most often it is repeated in series of 3 to 7 peelings, 2 times a year. The intervals between treatments depend on the type of microdermabrasion. In case of stronger exfoliation (corundum microdermabrasion) we recommend even 2-3 weeks break. If we choose diamond microdermabrasion, the procedure can be repeated after 7-10 days. Then our epidermis will not be able to renew itself again and we will achieve a more intensive effect. Much also depends on the type of skin and its reaction to the treatment, so it is best to set the dates after consultation with a dermatologist or an experienced cosmetician.
You can also do microdermabrasion yourself at home.
How to take care of your skin after microdermabrasion?
The way and rate of epidermis renewal after microdermabrasion depends on the type of treatment and skin type. Diamond and oxygen microdermabrasion are so delicate that usually redness disappears after just a few hours. The irritation after the corundum method can last even several days. Gentle peeling of the skin also happens.
In any case, the skin after the treatment is hypersensitive and devoid of top layers, so the recommendations are quite similar. For the first 24 hours we should not apply makeup. For the following days, or even a week, it is better not to expose your skin to the sun or go to the pool or other “wet” and public places. Because of this, the best time to do the treatment is autumn, winter or early spring.
Care is also extremely important. The skin should be toned, moisturized and cleansed once a week with an enzymatic peeling. It is worth to ask your dermatologist or beautician for the best cosmetics.
