About Working Wikily
Working Wikily is a new site about smarter ways to work. It is written for solopreneurs, job hunters, first-time job seekers, employers and software founders, and it tries to bring them together: the people who build software, the people who use it to run a business, and the people looking for work or hiring for it. It is free to read.
What we publish
Lists come first. A list page compares tools, ways to earn or jobs and programs. It shows the price or pay as the maker or source publishes it, who each one is best for, and the date the page was last updated. Case Studies describe a named business that uses a named tool and what changed. News is company announcements, filed under AI & Automation, Software, Winning Customers, Remote & Side Hustles, Careers & Hiring or News. Statistics pages gather figures on remote work and on AI in small business.
Where our news comes from
Most business news starts with an announcement. When a company launches a product, opens a program or adopts a new tool, it says so in a press release. Each weekday the newsroom reads the company announcements issued on PR Newswire, picks the ones that matter to the readers above and writes each one as a short news story. Every story is based on the company's own announcement and says that it comes from one. We do not reprint press releases.
How a story is made
Each story is written in plain words with the news first. Before it is published it is checked against the announcement it came from: every name, title, date, figure and quote. A story that does not match is rewritten. If it still does not match, it is not published. We add nothing the company did not say. We use AI software to draft stories and to run that check, and nothing is published unless the check matches it to the company's own announcement.
How a list is made
Each list starts with research into the tools or programs on it. Every price, pay figure and claim is found on the maker's own site or in a named source on the day we write, and the sources are listed once at the end of the page. Screenshots are taken from a tool's public home page. If we cannot find a figure, we leave it out.
Quotes and photos
Quotes are printed word for word, as the company released them, with the speaker's name and title. We do not write quotes or tidy them. Photos come from the company's announcement and are credited to the company. A release with no usable photo is not used, and we do not put a stock picture or a logo in its place.
Profiles and contributed stories
The site also carries business profiles and stories from contributors. They are not news reports and they are not written from press releases.
