Bet On Black Returns With $500K Student Fund
Bet On Black returns for season six with Target’s $500,000 growth fund for student entrepreneurs at HBCUs.

REVOLT has returned Bet On Black for a sixth season, with Target providing a $500,000 growth fund for student entrepreneurs. Hosted by Marsai Martin and executive produced by Kenya Barris, the season premiered October 19. Every participating founder will receive funding, mentorship and retain 100% of their equity. The partnership has directed nearly $3 million to Black founders and Black-owned businesses across six seasons.
Funding Student Founders
This season features students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities, including Howard University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, Grambling State University and Fayetteville State University. Rather than competing for one prize, each founder shares in the growth fund.
“Black entrepreneurs don't have a shortage of talent, ideas or ambition. They have a shortage of capital. Bet On Black was built to help turn Black entrepreneurship into Black wealth by putting real checks behind Black-owned businesses. This season, we're taking that commitment even further. Every founder gets funded, they get access to people who can help them scale, and they keep 100% of their equity. If we're serious about closing the wealth gap in this country, we have to invest in Black ownership.”
Mentors And Weekly Episodes
The founders receive coaching from Ryan Wilson of The Gathering Spot, podcast host Reginae Carter, financial expert Ashley M. Fox, venture capitalist Jewel Burks Solomon and designer Brandon Blackwood. The program covers entrepreneurship, investing, brand-building, tax and finance strategy.
Filming took place in Atlanta, including at The Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs, with approximately 90% Black production personnel. New episodes air Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on REVOLT’s linear network and Tuesdays at 11 a.m. ET on REVOLT.tv and YouTube.
A Continued Investment
The new season reunites Martin and Barris for the first time since black-ish. It is also Barris’s first REVOLT project since being named vice chair of REVOLT Labs.
