Blindsgalore, a family-owned online retailer of custom window coverings, says women now make up 75% of its workforce as it marks Women’s History Month. Founded in 1998 by Chelle Walters, the San Diego company says it was the first online retailer to offer custom blinds and shades. It is now operated by Walters and her daughter, CEO Alissa Walters. Blindsgalore is certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council.
Family Ownership Since 1998
Blindsgalore sells made-to-order blinds and shades customized for customers’ homes and lifestyles, with products offered at different price points. The company says it has helped cover more than two million windows nationwide over the past two decades.
The business built its online model around customization rather than traditional showroom retail. Its customer offering includes design tools, free shipping, free samples and an in-house support team for people ordering window treatments online.
