ASUS says small and medium-sized businesses are putting work computers through daily wear that can lead to downtime and higher operating costs. Its forthcoming Future of SMB Report, based on data from more than 100 small businesses across the United States, found that 33% experience device drops or rough handling and nearly 10% report regular downtime from hardware malfunctions. The company is positioning its Expert Series AI PCs, including the ExpertBook Ultra, for mobile-first business owners who work from cafés, co-working spaces, client sites and trains. ASUS Expert Series devices are available worldwide.

Wear And Downtime Costs

The survey found that more than 33% of SMB leaders report regular wear and tear caused by their daily working conditions. The report is due for release later this year.

Professional devices are expected to handle more rigorous use than personal computers, the company said. In the survey, 73% of SMB leaders said professional devices should last longer than personal ones.

“Today's small business leaders are running their businesses from everywhere. What we are hearing loud and clear is that devices need to keep up as downtime is not just an inconvenience, it is real business cost. That's why durability must be a core design principle, not an afterthought.”

Keith Lowe, Director of Product Management at ASUS

Expert Series Hardware

ASUS offers the ExpertBook Series for businesses that need hardware built for demanding day-to-day conditions. The company says the ExpertBook Ultra is designed for maximum durability and undergoes internal testing intended to exceed everyday business demands.

The devices include reinforced chassis, spill-resistant keyboards, extended battery life and built-in smart diagnostics. ASUS says these features, paired with basic training and good handling practices, can help reduce downtime, extend device lifespan and lower maintenance costs.
