Verkada Adds Fleet Security and Sound Systems
Verkada Transportation and Sound Systems add fleet security and cloud-managed enterprise audio, with software updates from October 8.

Verkada has introduced cloud-managed transportation security, enterprise audio controls, and a read-only AI integration at its VerkadaOne customer conference. More than 2,500 IT and physical security leaders attended the Miami event, where the company also announced camera, access, alarm, and mapping updates. The new software features begin rolling out October 8, while hardware is set to ship in October and November. The releases expand Verkada’s tools for managing security and operations across vehicles, facilities, and workplaces.
Fleet Security For Vehicles
Verkada Transportation is a new product line for organizations that need to monitor vehicles, passengers, and fleet operations from the company’s Command platform. It includes three ruggedized camera models, a 5G and Wi-Fi vehicle gateway, vehicle diagnostics integration, and face blurring for passenger privacy.
Security teams can access footage from moving or parked vehicles, review driving events across a fleet, and search by GPS location, driving behavior, or vehicle health. Verkada says it extends enterprise protection to people and assets in transit.
Centralized Audio Controls
Sound Systems gives enterprises one cloud-based interface to manage audio hardware, ambient music, and announcements. Verkada says it removes the need for the separate apps, local consoles, and vendor portals that enterprise sound systems have traditionally required.
The lineup includes Network Audio Players that connect third-party speakers and amplifiers to Command, plus Network Speakers with plug-and-play Power over Ethernet connectivity. Verkada also positions the system for automated deterrence.
Read Only AI Connections
Catalyst is Verkada’s read-only Model Context Protocol integration for Command. It allows customers to connect approved third-party AI platforms including Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, then create operational workflows, reports, and integrations with natural-language prompts.
Examples include confirming that shelves are stocked or creating an IT ticket when a camera or sensor loses its network connection. Verkada says the read-only rollout gives organizations control over their agents and workflows.

Camera And Platform Updates
Other releases include Live mode for Verkada’s Unified Timeline, which supports real-time investigations, and new alerts for wrong-way driving, blocked doors, container ID tracking, concealment, and grab-and-run incidents.
The company also announced a thermal camera series for identifying people and vehicles in low-light conditions, adverse weather, and through obstructions. Six new government-grade FIPS-validated cameras were also introduced.
A Skydio integration can send camera GPS coordinates when a specified Command alert is triggered, dispatching an autonomous drone and bringing its footage into Command.
Building Operations In One Platform
For workplaces and multi-tenant buildings, Verkada added the TK74 Touchscreen Intercom, the AW33 Wireless Access Controller, AI reception capabilities, and employee check-in features for multi-site travel.
It also introduced a compact 10-zone BP42 Alarm Panel, a Better Sensor Protocol for daisy-chaining up to 200 sensors across large sites, fire alarm monitoring, and Verkada Maps. Maps creates a 3D digital twin of facilities in Command, showing devices and live previews when an event or alert is received.
