rubi has launched the rubi AI Mentor, adding on-demand mentorship, personalized skills practice, real-time feedback, and interview preparation to its virtual apprenticeship platform for transactional lawyers. Starting this fall, every 1L at The University of Texas School of Law and selected students at the University of Minnesota Law School will train with the tool. The AI Mentor has three modes, mentor, tutor, and interview, drawing on three years of rubi’s proprietary IP and 25,000-plus billable hours of BigLaw practice. It is available now to institutions and individual users through rubi’s website.

Three Modes for Legal Training

The core mentor mode offers practical guidance intended to help junior lawyers and summer associates develop substantive and professional judgment. Tutor mode provides personalized practice scenarios based on BigLaw deal work and calibrated to the material each user has already covered in the program.

rubi states that tutor mode does not require client or matter information, and that conversations are not used to train third-party AI models. Its interview mode simulates an interview with a BigLaw partner, giving law students repeated opportunities to practice and refine their answers.

Texas Law Broadens Access

The University of Texas School of Law made rubi available school-wide in spring 2026 through its Texas Law and Business Program. This fall, the school will put both rubi and the AI Mentor in the hands of every incoming law student.

“rubi has been an invaluable complement to the Law and Business Program and an incredible resource for our students, and it shows in their knowledge and confidence. The new AI Mentoring tool in rubi, with its ability to provide real-time feedback on complex transactional problems and other workplace simulations, is poised to give students an even clearer picture of what practice looks like. We’re hugely excited by its potential.”

Minnesota Law Selects Students

At the University of Minnesota Law School, the Corporate Institute will offer rubi to students selected through a competitive application process. The school positions the platform alongside classroom instruction, clinics, externships, attorney mentorship, and networking.

“The Corporate Institute at Minnesota Law is dedicated to preparing students for successful careers in law and business by bridging classroom theory and real-world practice. Integrating cutting-edge tools like rubi’s virtual apprenticeship in transactional law and the new rubi AI Mentor tool will directly accelerate that mission. Rather than replacing classroom instruction, experiential education like clinics and externships, or attorney mentorship and networking, rubi enhances these other learning opportunities — giving our students the confidence to hit the ground running as they begin to practice law.”

Access for Individuals and Institutions

rubi offers structured legal training, unlimited practice reps, and AI Mentor access as part of its virtual apprenticeship experience. The platform is aimed at law students and junior lawyers, while firms, schools, and other organizations can also arrange access.

“rubi has been instrumental in helping me understand purchase agreements, internalize what is expected of junior associates at each step of a deal, and build the habits that make an associate valuable on a team. The rubi AI Mentor takes that even further. When I want career guidance or more reps on something, I get them immediately, with feedback. And now that I know how to do the underlying work, I’m better positioned to supervise AI tools. I wish I had access to rubi even earlier.”

A Virtual Apprenticeship Platform

Founded by former BigLaw M&A attorneys Madison Keeble and Geetika Jerath, rubi combines transactional legal training with practice exercises and AI guidance. For law schools and firms seeking an organized training resource, and students preparing for transactional practice and recruiting, the service brings these elements together in one platform.
