Petri Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Drain Cleaning is encouraging Brooklyn-area job seekers to consider skilled trades careers as it marks 120 years serving the borough. The family-owned home services company points to a 30% rise in demand for general trades between 2022 and 2026, alongside sharper increases for HVAC engineers and robotics technicians. Petri serves Brooklyn and Manhattan, offering plumbing, heating, cooling and drain cleaning services. Its message is aimed at first-time job seekers and people considering a career change.

Demand And Workforce Gaps

Randstad USA found that demand for general trades, including electricians, welders and construction workers, grew by an average of 30% between 2022 and 2026. The research also cited demand growth of almost 78% for HVAC engineers and more than 113% for robotics technicians during the same period.

The U.S. Department of Education reports that only two new workers enter the skilled trades workforce for every five tradespeople who retire. Petri presents that gap as an opening for people seeking steady work and a path to build practical skills.

“A career in the skilled trades offers strong job security and a clear path for long-term professional growth. At Petri, our dedication to quality service has sustained our family business for four generations. This year, we're honored to mark our 120th year serving the Brooklyn area while continuing to create opportunities in the trades.”

Local Training Options

The Brooklyn area has low-cost and no-cost skilled trades programs, apprenticeships and industry-based training. Brooklyn Workforce Innovations offers tuition-free courses in telecom and cable installation, woodworking and commercial driving.

Nontraditional Employment for Women provides free pre-apprenticeships for women pursuing carpentry, painting, construction and electrical trades.

“Whether you're just starting out or looking for a career change, the trades are well worth considering. Choosing a skilled trade comes with a solid earning potential, offers job flexibility and brings the satisfaction of building something lasting.”
